The Magical Fat: Omega 3 Fatty Acid


Omega 3 fatty acids are a type of polyunsaturated fat. While all types of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are good for you, omega 3 fats are proving to be especially beneficial.

As you know, every cell in our body is surrounded by a cell membrane composed mainly of fatty acids. The cell membrane allows the proper amounts of necessary nutrients to enter the cell, and ensures that waste products are quickly removed from the cell.

Current research has shown that they can:

* Reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and cancer
* Ease arthritis, joint pain, and inflammatory skin conditions

There are a lot of omega 3 fats in forms such as supplement and foods. Here are way to choose the right choice of omega 3 fatty acids.

1. Avoid products that don’t list the source of omega 3-s
2. Don’t fall for fortified foods, it rarely contains high omega 3 fatty acid
3. Choose supplements that are mercury free, pharmaceutical grade and molecularly distilled

You may find omega 3 fatty acid in these foods:
Excellent sources: flaxseed, salmon, walnuts
Good sources: oregano, cauliflower, sardines, cabbage, broccoli, tofu, tuna, raspberries.
