Famous People With Psoriatic Arthritis

Psoriatic arthritis occurs on those who previously developed psoriasis. It is caused by an overactive immune system. It affected your joints, especially on fingers or toes. Even celebrities has this disease too. Here are 4 famous people with psoriatic arthritis as quoted from Health:

1. Phil Mickelson


This professional golfer at first experienced pain on his ankle, wrist and in his left index. He tought that it was just a result of practicing and playing. But then the ache and stiffness became worse until he could not wake up from bed. He was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis just a few years after he started the psoriasis symptoms.

2. Byron Janis


The pianist got his first psoriasis arthritis flare-up on 1973, and and he continues to hid the truth until 1985 where he went public. He got acupuncture and medication treatment. He also had a series of surgeries to restore his hands movements.

3. Shawn Lane


Shawn Lane is a famous guitarist and well known for his shredding skills. At the age 13, he was diagnosed by psoriatic arthritis after an early-childhood diagnosis of psoriasis. He was able to keep playing guitar but had trouble walking. And the steroid medication that he took caused his body weight to blow. He died on 2003 because of pulmonary fibrosis, a scarring of the lungs that occurs in some people with psoriatic arthritis.

4. Dennis Potter


Dennis Potter was an English dramatist who died in 1994. Cause of his death is severe psoriatic arthritis that was crippling at times. But the disease was not broken his spirit. He continued to write with a pen strapped to his hand.
