Skin Cancer Symptoms

It’s important to check your own skin, preferably once a month. As we know, moles are the common symptoms for skin cancer. You should know the pattern of moles, blemishes, freckles, and other marks on your skin so that you’ll notice any new moles or changes in existing moles. All areas should be examined, including your palms and soles, scalp, ears, nails, and your back. Here are some symptoms of skin cancer:

  1. The changing moles
  2. Changing skin tone
  3. A sore that does not heal
  4. Spread of pigment from the border of a spot to surrounding skin
  5. Redness or a new swelling beyond the border
  6. Change in sensation – itchiness, tenderness, or pain
  7. Change in the surface of a mole – scaliness, oozing, bleeding, or the appearance of a bump or nodule
  8. Dark lesions on your palms, soles, fingertips or toes, or on mucous membranes lining your mouth, nose, vagina or anus

Make an appointment with your doctor if you notice any changes to your skin that worry you. Not all skin changes are caused by skin cancer. Your doctor will investigate your skin changes to determine a cause.
