Avian flu or also known as bird flu is an infection caused by a certain kind of avian influenza virus. Symptoms of avian flu infection in humans depend on the strain of virus. Infection with the H5N1 virus in humans causes more classic flu-like symptoms, which might include:
- Cough (dry or productive)
- Difficulty breathing
- Fever greater than 100.4°F (38°C)
- Muscle aches
- Runny nose
- Sore throat
You also better check the symptoms in bird. Mild avian flu in domestic birds often goes undetected. It produces little or no symptoms. Symptoms can include ruffled feathers and slower egg production.
Domestic birds with highly pathogenic avian flu first develop mild symptoms, like those of low pathogenic avian flu. As the disease progresses, and the virus spreads to other organs, much more severe symptoms develop, including
- breathing difficulties
- swollen head
Sometimes, birds die on the same day symptoms appear. If you found these criteria, please be warn and prepare everything such as medicine to prevent or something like that.
When to seek medical advice
See your doctor immediately if you develop a fever, cough and body aches, and have recently traveled to a part of the world where bird flu occurs. Be sure to let your doctor know if you visited any farms or open-air markets.
