Avian Flu: Risk and Complication

Bird flu or avian flu is an infection caused by a certain kind of avian influenza virus, it known as H5N1 virus and it’s spreaded by bird. When people get avian flu (or any influenza), the virus leaves the lungs and immune system weak and damaged, making them susceptible to secondary infection by other pathogens, especially if the person’s immune system was already weak before the influenza infection. People with bird flu may develop life-threatening complications, including:

Pneumonia
Pneumonia is a respiratory condition in which there is infection of the lung.Germs called bacteria, viruses, and fungi may cause pneumonia. Avian flu virus is one of the list of that viruses.

Collapsed lung
collapsed lungis the collection of air in the space around the lungs. This buildup of air puts pressure on the lung, so it cannot expand as much as it normally does when you take a breath.

Respiratory failure
Respiratory failure, in medicine, is used to describe inadequate gas exchange by the respiratory system, with the result that arterial oxygen and/or carbon dioxide levels cannot be maintained within their normal ranges.

Kidney dysfunction
The kidney participates in whole-body homeostasis, regulating acid-base balance, electrolyte concentrations, extracellular fluid volume, and regulation of blood pressure. So if it become dysfunction, means that it can do any ‘duty’ for our body as usual.

Heart problems
Heart problem is a group of problems that occur when the heart and blood vessels aren’t working the way they should.
