What Causes Cervical Cancer?

Cervical cancer is a disease that affects the cervix of the female reproductive system. Every moment, women died around the universe due to cervical cancer. What causes it anyway?

Researchers have identified HPV as the most common cause of cervical cancer. Although several cervical cancer risk factors have been identified, HPV remains the strongest link to the cause of cervical cancer. And there are some other factors which may causes cervical cancer happen.

1. Poverty.

Women who are poor may not have access to medical services that detect and treat precancerous cervical conditions. So they can’t get earlier treatment.

2. Tobacco use.

Women who smoke are about twice as likely to develop cervical cancer as women who do not.

3. Eating habits.

A diet that doesn’t include ample amounts of fruits and vegetables can increase a woman’s risk of developing cervical cancer.

4. Weakened immune system.

A woman whose immune system is weakened has a higher-than-average risk of developing cervical lesions that can become cancerous.

5. Chemical exposure.

Women who work on farms or in the manufacturing industry may be exposed to chemicals that can increase their risk of cervical cancer.

6. Sexual history.

Women who have had many sexual partners have a higher risk of developing cervical cancer.

7. Having many children.

Studies suggest that giving birth to many children (5 or more) may slightly increase the risk of cervical cancer among women with HPV infection.
