Most cervical cencer are caused by the sexually transmitted infection human papillomavirus (HPV). It is the most main cause of cancer deaths of women in around the world, that’s why we have to recognize about this symptoms . About 250,000 womens die each year because of it. That’s why it is important for girls or womens to receive the vaccine before they have sexual contact. So how to conquer it ? There are two new vaccines against it, that is Gardasil and Cervarix.
Gardasil is vaccine that has been licensed in over 75 countries, including Britain. It works againts four HPV types: 16, 18, 6 and 11. HPV 16 and 18 are responsible for around 90 percent of gential warts, but aren’t associated with cervical cancer. But because it doesn’t protect against all strains of HPV, it cannot prevent all cervical carcinomas. It also gives some protection against genital warts that are also caused by HPV 6 and 11.
Cervarix is a vaccine that has been licensed in over 89 countries including the UK. It has been approved by the Medicines Health Regulatory Authority in the UK and its being used in a national immunisation programme, which began in September 2008. 700,000 doses of Cervarix have been administered to girls so far and it is estimated that the national programme could eventually save 400 lives per year.
