The 5 Types of Headache – Identify Your Headache Now

Tension Headache
You will feel like a constant ache or pressure around head, especially at the temples or in the back of the head and neck. They are not accompanied by nausea or vomiting. You will also still doing your activities when having this type of headache. The cause of this headache are the contraction of neck and scalp muscle as the response to stress and possibly the changes in brain chemicals. You can simply cure this headache by taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or acetaminophen.

Cluster Headache
This headache affect men more often than women. They are recurring headaches that occur in groups or cycles. It appear suddenly and characterized by a severe, debilitating pain in one side of the head. You also likely to have watery eye and runny nose on the same side. When you have this headache, you will restless and unable to be comfortable. There is no cure for this headache, but medications can reduce the frequency and duration of the attack.

Sinus Headache
Sinus headache occur when a sinus become inflamed through an infection. It usually comes with a fever. To diagnose this headache you should take MRI or CT scan and viewed by fiber optic scope. This headache can be treated with antibiotics, antihistamine, or decongestan.

Rebound Headache
The overuse of painkillers can lead to rebound headache. Aspirin, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen are some culprits of this headache. That’s why never use headache medication too much. Contact your doctor if you are in this type of headache.

Migraine Headache
A person tend to have migraine if she/he have a neurological disorder that runs in the family. They are defined by certain criteria:
1. At least 5 previous episodes of headache
2. Lasting between 4 hours to 72 hours
3. Having at least 2 from these 4 features: one-sided pain, throbbing pain, moderate to severe pain, and pain that interferes with, is worsened by, or prohibits activities.
4. Having at least one associated feature: nausea, vomiting, the sensitivity to light and sound.
