The Right Diet For Kids

Children needs healthy foods to support their growth and development. The right diet for kids includes fruits, vegetables, protein, and whole grains. So what are the best foods for kids?

Milk
Milk, yogurt, and cheese is rich in calcium and vitamin D. If your children is older than 2 years old, you should give them low-fat or skim milk instead of whole milk. To make a yogurt fun, you can freeze it then sprinkle berries in the top of it.

Whole Grains
Whole grains provide energy for children. The right amount of whole grains intake for kids are:
– 2 to 3 years old = 3 oz. each day
– 4 to 8 years old = 4 to 5 oz. each day
– 9 to 13 years old = 5 to 6 oz. each day
Serve your kids with oatmeal, brown rice, whole grain bread, cereal, or even quinoa.

Meat and Beans
Meat and beans provide protein for muscle development. You can make a filling of taco with chicken and fried beans or anything that they like.

Fruit and Vegetables
You can roast beets, butternut squash, and Brussels sprout to bring out the natural sugar. To increase their interest of vegetables, plant a home garden on your yard. You can also involve them making salad for dinner.
