7 Celebrity Diagnosed With Lupus

Do you remember that in 2010 Lady Gaga told Larry King that she take blood test and diagnosed with lupus? But to be diagnosed with lupus a person not only have to do the blood test, you also need to have symptoms too. In this case, Lady Gaga doesn’t have any symptoms at all. You might curious about other celebrities and famous person who have been diagnosed with lupus. Here the list:

1. Toni Braxton
Women of color are two to three times more likely than white women to develop lupus. And Toni herself revealed that she has the disease on last November and is now taking the medication .

2. Seal
The famous scars on Heidi Klum’s husband are the result of discoid lupus erythematosus, a type of lupus involving only the skin. It also cause hair loss. People with this type of lupus are often too sensitive to ultraviolet light and need to be careful about sun exposure.

3. Cori Broadus
Cori Broadus is the daughter of the famous rapper, Snoop Dogg. She showed the symptoms of lupus, which is skin lightening, hair loss, and dramatic weight loss at the age of 6 (on 2005). Currently, she is playing softball and volleyball, doing well in school, and taking several medications.

4. Tim Raines
The baseball players has been diagnosed with lupus in 1999 when he has extreme fatigue, swollen knees and ankles, and was 15 pounds heavier than normal. He then took radiation therapy and medication. He even went back to baseball in 2001 and retiring in 2002.

5. Charles Kuralt
The broadcast journalist died of heart disease, which is a common complication of lupus, at the age of 62. Just several weeks after being diagnosed with lupus. But he could have had lupus for a far longer time.

6. Flannery O’Connor
The novelist had her first attack in 1950 at the age of 25. And in 1964 her lupus become active again and she died within months. Her father also had lupus.

7. Millie (Barbara and George Bush’s dog)
She perhaps the most famous animal with lupus. And the symptoms of lupus in animal is very similar with human, like fatigue, hair loss, joint pain, and skin problems. Dog can have healthy lives with lupus if they get the proper medications.
