5 Ways To Control Your Cholesterol

Times of India wrote that lowering your cholesterol level is important to promote overall heart health. Dr. Michael Roizen, Chairman of the Wellness Institutes at Cleveland Clinic suggested this 5 ways you need to do to lower your cholesterol.

1. Take psyllium fiber
Getting more fiber is essentials in cholesterol diet, but not any fiber works the same way. Viscous soluble fiber like psyllium fiber is proven to lower bad cholesterol level on your body. Psyllium fiber will turn into thick gel that traps and helps remove some cholesterol, bile acids, and waste in the gut.

2. Wear a pedometer and increase daily activity
Bring a pedometer during simple exercise such as take the stairs, walk to work, or taking a walk around the neighborhood. You’ll be amazed to see how many extra steps you can take in one day and promotes a better heart health. Walking is a simple and easy way to lower cholesterol and tracking your progress can be an inspiration to continue your exercise.

3. Find friends to exercise together
By finding friends to exercise together, you can motivate each other. Try a new types of physical activity together to get the heart pumping and keeping your cholesterol level down. This will also helps to reduce stress level because you will enjoy your company and laugh together.

4. Beware of hidden fats and sugar
Avoid food that contains high level of saturated fat, cholesterol, and hidden sources of sugar, such as high fructose corn syrup, dextrins, and evaporated cane juice. To do this you need to know your ingredients and read the nutrition laber carefully.

5. Add DHA
Regular intake of DHA can promote heart health and helps to lower the level of LDL (bad cholesterol) and raises the level of HDL (good cholesterol). Salmon, sardines, and tuna are the rich source of DHA.
